Default Coilovers

TAP has H&R coilovers for only a little more money than the neuspeed/bilstein spring shock combination. Does anyone have the H &R setup...what is the drop and how does it handle? Thanks in advance....
alex 99.51.8tqm

Default H&R Coilovers @ TAP

I think their price is $1995 on the H&R coilovers for a 1.8T....their website is slightly screwed up. I think you were seeing the price for the front and rear Koni shocks. Take another look at that pricing table on their website and I think you'll see what I'm talking about.
Andy Hedin

I have had the H&R coilovers in my 1.8T for just under a year now and they are one of the best investments i have made for my car. The drop is adjustable but i had it between 3.5"-2.5". The car handles great, but the ride wasn't as harsh as i expected it to be...contact me for more info.
Default TAP's H&Rs are VERY VERY expensive, goto www.tirerack.com... they've got the same ones for sale for almost $500 less.

H&R is the best coil over height adjustable suspenion you can get in the world, I had it on my car for a while and I am very happy with it and the handleing is much much better then before, I have droped 70mm from standard, and the kit i got is from 50-90mm, and i used the V6 qautrro spec since the factory for 1.8TQ is not strong enough, you need more stronger on the front.

Check out KW coilovers. I had a set installed yesterday on my 1.8T New Beetle at HPA and what a great difference! It has specially valved adjustable Koni's that you can change on the car. Also the height is adjustable ON THE CAR! I am going to take my Avant up there and have it done. Its night and day. Want a smooth ride for the highway, turn the ****. Want to stiffen it up for the twisties, turn it the other way. I lowered the Beetle about 1.5".
NeilM
98 Avant Sport
99 Beetle 1.8T

Please let us know how it works out with KWs on the Avant. I'm considering the switch to coilovers as I'm not 100% satisfied with my aftermarket spring/shock setup.
H&R seems to be the favorite, but it seems like a KW would be a good alternative. However, there have been some rumors floating about that KW was in litigation in Europe regarding product failure. Have you heard anything about this? Does HPA have any comments?
Jim
PS: Nice pair of cars to have in your garage! :-)
