CONFUSED DEALER?
My V6 A4 runs fine except when I'm waiting at a traffic light. It will idle
a little rough, then the engine shuts off. It restarts fine and I drive off. It will
do this practically daily so I had the dealer check it. He said I may have a
vacuum leak under the intake manifold and it will cost $350 to take it off
to check. I think he is guessing even though he put the car on the computer.
I think the 'idle valve' may be dirty and needs cleaning. What do you guys
think about this? Am I being taken to the cleaners? He already charged
me $85 for the diagnosis.

Free Advice! (and worth every penny)
An intake manifold leak should result in a loss of power, increase in fuel economy, pinging, or overheating. Non necessarily all of these, but there should be at least one occurring. I'd bet on the idle air control valve. Use the "Search Forums" feature on this site to look for IAC or "idle air control valve".
