Control Module Reprogramming

How many of you have had problems getting the dealer to reprogram the control module to give the windows control, auto locking doors, etc. to your A4. I called my dealership today to schedule for my routine maint. and also mentioned that I wanted the remote range fix TSB performed and also to reprogram the control module with code 16232. He asked where I got the information for programming the control module and I told him from the A4.org website. I was then told that there were some software problems with reprogramming the control module and that he had two other lines waiting, and asked if we could talk about it tomorrow when I bring the car in. I said fine, and will speak with him tomorrow on it, but just wondering if any of you have had problems getting your dealer to perform this procedure or for those of you who have had it done, have you had any problems after the reprogramming?

I had the 16232 code programmed into my 98 A6 about 5 months ago. The dealer had no problems with the procedure and I'm very pleased with the increased functionality.

Dealer did it free, knew the procedure, no problems in 6 mos.

Mine had no clue, Print the FAQ, and take it with you. (more, long)

I actually had this as one of the conditions in my purchase. None of the sales or service people had a clue. The "Senior" tech called the Audi tech help line, and got info on how to do it, but was incorrectly informed this would VOID my warranty on anything connected to the module, the module etc. Having had many discussions while AoA Customer relations when they lost my car, I made a call to them, who immediately set both the tech line, and my dealer straight.Bottom line: This modification is NOT covered under warranty and your dealer may charge for it. It does not void your warrenty. AoA did give the standard "if this change can be proven to have caused damage to your car, then that will not be covered under warranty" I challenge them to prove that changing a door locking code to one of their own programed codes damages anything!Insert standard disclaimer here or, "If you do it, you, are responsible, not me! I don't represent anyone, including myself!" :-)

Dealer did for $25. They were not familiar with - I brought in faq and have had no probs.

Just had mine done yesterday. . .

Hey G. Hale,I had given the instructions to my dealer a while back. They actually waited until some Audi reps were in town, tried the codes out, and approved the procedure to be not warranty voiding. It's not covered as a service item, so your dealer may charge.
