Cooling system question: Please help.
I'm about to replace my clutch fan this wknd with an EFK from SPP. My clutch fan went out and I noticed that my car was running hot. I know it's normal for the engine to get hot if the car is idle and not moving but I notice that my car slightly rises over the half way mark at highway speeds too. The only way to keep it less than 1/4th hot is to turn on the heat.
Now I relize that the fan not working will cause heat at idle but I thought at highway speeds the fan wasnt really needed because of the air flowing. So my question is, What else should I be looking for that's bad besides the fan? And I should also mention that I haven't really noticed a change in the level of coolant in the resorvior (but I haven't really paid attention to it).
BTW it's a 98.5 2.8 QM

just a thought but start looking at the oil temps too....
I had to replace my oil cooler because it was swapping oil into the coolant, i got all sorts of weird temp readings, mostly really low to middle, other than that, check if the water pump is making a bad clicking sound(it'll sound like a bad bearing but clicking), that might mean it's going to go soon, either that or a cheap hydrometer at the local auto store to see if the coolant is still any good or if it's just getting nasty in the engine, i'd check the quality of the coolant first
