correct me if i am wrong: drive axle vs cv joint kit(more)
I am thinking of having my mechanic replacing my driver's side outer cv joint and its boot because when i make left turn, there are clickings sound.
Preety sure it is worn ***** in the cv.
I have been doing some online part-shopping and also been doing a rough estimate on the labor hours to do this job
Mechanic say around 2 - 3 hrs. He needs to take off the drive axle off (driver side). Then take off the old cv and boots, grease and put in new one, boot it, remount the drive axle, tire realigntments.
Cost going to be:
CV joint kit: 140 dollars (adirondack)
Labor : 2.5 hrs at 60 dollars per hour.
What i think is: it is better off to just buy a rebuilt drive axle (driver side) as the cost will add up to be *nearly* the same. Is this correct/wise thinking? Why or why not?
Thanks. Help is appreciated
