Default Crap!(almost)...possible coilpack/fuel/spark plug issue?!...

Started my 2000 A4 1.8T up this afternoon- the engine did the shaking like crazy thing at cold start up like I've never felt it (misfiring?)! Check engine light started BLINKING! -CRAP! I turned the engine off and restarted after 10 seconds. Again, the engine was still shaking like crazy & misfiring, and this time the engine light was SOLID! I turned the engine off again for another 10-20 seconds **envisioning the coil pack going kaput**, then restarted again. Engine ran fine this time with no engine light. I sat there and let it idle for a good 5 minutes while I checked the possible gas cap, oil stick as being the culprit. Nothing! Drove off and eyeballed the check engine light the rest of the way to my local auto center for a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Hopefully dirty injectors or fouled spark plugs is all it is, either way I will keep you posted. All input good & bad is greatly appreciated from my fellow audiworlders.

Could be a coilpack gone wrong, apparently it is quite common on 2k models

I'm hoping it's that I haven't used a fuel cleaner in 6,000-7,000 miles, or fouled spark plugs.

Default Blinking CE is WORSE than solid...

blinking means DON'T DRIVE IT. Solid means get to a dealer when you can.

have your codes pulled with VAG-COM asap.

Default Hook it up to a VAG, or bring it to the dealer ASAP!

Blinking CE lights are nothing to be ignored. Frankly, you shouldn't have even attempt start #2, let alone #3 and driving away. Too late now, but definitely hook up the car to a diagnostic tool and figure out whats going on...and FOR GOD'S SAKE, stop driving the car, until you have some answers!!!

Default Betcha a buck you'll find just misfires for the codes. Was it wet out? Moisture plays havoc with ...

these finicky ignition components.
Once you got some heat on the wires/coils, things straighten out.

Check with Vag tool, report back, please.
Mine has done this 2x in the last 3 months.
Car has 10,000 and is only 1 yr old.

I've had 6 new cars in my life so far, this Audi is the first to pull this crap...
