damaged computer box?

I have a 97 A4 1.8 T Quattro. One of my spark plugs isn't receiving a signal from the comp. box hence the car is misfiring, I'm actually only running on 3 cylinders now. One mechanic did some tests and concluded that the whole box has to be changed. Before I go and shell out for a new computer I wanted to ask what other possibilites there are for the misfiring. They did a pressure test on all cylinders and it was fine. I tried putting in a stock chip (i have an upgraded one) but still the same. Also tried switching around the coil packs but still the same cylinder not getting a spark. Would appreciate your input.

A common failure on some models, not sure if the 97's had the same

But on top on the air box is a ignition control module/POS. Its what that controls the coilpacks.
