Darn Radio
Radio is in safe mode. No biggie. Tried using scan tool to unlock. No go. 2000 model doesn't support. Bought release clips. One of the release mechanisms is busted. Therefore, I cannot get to the serial code on the backside. Any advice on how to get my radio unlocked without ripping my dash to shreds? Audi dealer wants to charge $250 for it. All I need is access to serial number or code to unlock.

You need the radio removal tools. They can be had on ebay. Just pop them into the slots and pull the radio out. So how are you getting the code? I used to be able to call and get radio codes with the Vin of the car and serial number, but last year they stopped doing that.

Is this the larger symphony deck or the concert I? The symphony can be a bear to get out because there are two sets of clips.
Sometimes they get stuck with all the dust and spilled coffee/ sodas etc.
Take a a couple of small plastic putty knives, (2) 1 inch ones for a Concert I or (4) for a Symphony. Carefully wedge them in each side of the deck about where the catches are, then use the tools to pull.
This has worked for me about a dozen times, in one case I actually had to remove the side console trim against the tunnel and push from behind.
