Dents in door...Is it okay to take the interior trim off the door...
and pound the dents out from the inside? The dents are very small (about the size of a quater) and have been in the door for about 1year. Should I be worried about paint cracking or chipping since the dents have been set for a long time?
Has anyone done this and been successful? Is there a quicker/easier fix?
The local shops are charging around $50 per dent to fix them with their handy-dandy tool (the suction cup type).
Thanks,

if you have to ask dont do it yourself
I am not trying to be a smart ***...but if you know how to shrink sheet metal then you wouldnt be asking this question and if you dont then you will not be successful removing the dents.
Go to a paintless dent removal franchise.

Shop around. I had 8 dents repaired for $200 by a paintless dent shop
After the repair, I can't even remember where they were (except for one where the paint was pretty deeply scratched). Well worth the money! But definitely take it somewhere that not only has the experience behind them, but also the right tools. Pounding the dents out from the inside can and probably will cause more visible damage than the dents you are trying to fix. The pros use hooks and spoons to massage the dents out, and I am sure it takes not only practice, but also a certain technique to acheive a flawless result.
In the end, it's not too big of an investment, especially considering how much cheaper it is than bringing the car to an actual body shop to do the repair!
Again, just shop around. I am sure you can find a better price (although $50 a dent isn't too bad; especially if the shop is a good one).
Cheers,
Randy
