Difference in ABS modules.

So, my audi has an ABS module p/n 8E0614111A. Why wont a module with p/n 8D0614111D work? (both pre-facelift quattros). Is it just a matter of recoding the unit to my car or is there such a difference that it just wont work.

Anybody know why there were so many revisions?

Many of the revisions are interchangable. Throw it in and see.

Agreed. Most of the 'close' substitutions I've done have seemingly worked fine.

Please post back here if it works. I have the same P/N (8E...A) on my module and it needs replacing

These are interchangeable: 8E0614111N ,8E0614111M , 8E0614111A ,8E0614111E

I have the same question the plugs look different could I still just separate the electronics and and the D will work on my A pump? would I have to change the pump too, has anyone done this? looks like the torx bolts don't line up
