DIS real time fuel usage rarely returns to zero?
very rarely will i see it actually go to 0L/100km while braking or stopped
is this a symptom of another problem? or is this system simply inaccurate?
i tried searching but all i can find are people testing their fuel economy
any input would be greatly appreciated
If I am reading your question correctly.
it goes to 0.0 very rarely if i let off the gas and coast, its a 2.8 30V tip
stopped at a red light, the DIS will stay at a fuel consumption number that i usually see while maintaining 60km/h to 100km/h, on rare occasion i will see it at 0 while sitting at a red light
while stopped this number does not change, even in neutral holding steady throttle
and yes as long as the car is running it will be using gas, BUT why is it calculating L per 100km while the car is not moving, if anything the number should go infinite due to the fact the car is not moving but is still using gas, this is why im thinking when i see 0.0L/100km on a rare occasion while stopped, this is correct
it just doesnt make sense, i could figure this out for myself if i knew what sensors where were feeding the real time calculation for fuel usage/distance traveled
just trying to figure out if this is a normal abnormality, or if it is a sign of a sensor failing/electrical quirk or worse, tranny related

For the caculation the speed(MPH/KPH) s not being used, it is just using the RPMS and the on time of the injectors. When you see zero is at that slit second when the ecu shuts the injectors off to decrease the rpm's, but then your driveline kicks and the injectors have to open again to keep the motor running.
What your seeing is completely normal for a tip car, which is why it gets worse gas mileage then a manual car.
and if what your saying is true, then why does the number not change when the car is in neural and revving the engine?
only while the car is moving, the number changes, this is why i believe there is a speed sensor in the calculation somewhere, maybe the maf or tps is feeding this calculation aswell, but what speed sensor....abs? internal tranny sensor? odometer/speedo?
and if what your saying is true, then occationaly my engine burns 0.0L of gas while idling, which again i do not believe
did you build your 600whp a4 or did you pay someone to build it?
