DIY Spring install question....<need help>
Any of you guys ever have a problem compressing springs enough to get onto these damn Audi shocks?
I even have lowering springs and I just cant seem to get them compressed enough to tie the spring hat on.
A body shop we deal with also had this same problem with an A6/ Non-sport.
I just cant do it, the springs coils are almost touching each other, is this common? Should I have to compress the springs till thier coils touch to get theses shocks through them?
Any help is greatly appreciated, I wont be able to respond till lunch time. ;-/

If you need you can use my spring compressor.....
big red branick $900 compressor can do just about anything, even angry alice's 700lb springs were no sweat.
just have to come over to use it.

other notes.... because I've only done this on half a dozen cars
the coils will be touching.
The compressor I have is massive, 40-50lbs and its wall mount. I just set the fingers on it and keep cranking the thing till the spring is short enough.

You need to remove the spring from the compressor, and grab another
winding of coils inside the compressor. If the spring gets jammed inside the compressor when you try to remove it, take a screwdriver, and pry apart the windings and pull the compressor off. That may happen with progressive rate springs.
