Do any of you see any problems running 195/65-15 snow tires instead of 205/60-15?

Default 205/60-16...that's 1/2 size over stock, right? Good move. More than adequate to support the car.

Not too wide nor too narrow. Oversize, maybe one of the best sizes. I took the plundge w/15" on a V6, so went to 65s.

Default Very convenient that you have your own definitions for things that don't match the correct ones.

I guess when you're not sure what you're arguing, it helps to have your own vocabulary.

Default According to your logic...

... Wait, you have none.

I clearly stated that I run upgraded brakes because I track my car in the summer.

I also clearly stated that I had run 195/65/15 in previous winters, and they were indeed better in snow and slush.

Remember what we're disussing here...

195/65/16 IS BETTER IN SNOW AND SLUSH THAN 205/60/15

Yes, of course wider tires are going to handle better in dry pavement, but that wasn't the question at hand now, was it?

Default lol. I love it when your true colors show through.

I find it funny that you're telling me to grow up.

My A4 came with 225/45/17 summer tires. I opted for the celebration sport package and planned on getting separate winter and summer tires, because it's simply more fun. I have more grip than you in the summer, and I have more grip than you in the snow and ice in the winter. I participate in timed trials around a course plowed on a lake in the winter, and I participate in track events on road courses in the summer.

Yes, I'm way more hardcore than you. You couldn't do what I do with your crappy no season tires. It's laughable that you say rice.. goes to show your maturity level. I run 225/45/17 in the summer and on the track. I think 19s are ridiculously stupid.

None of this has any bearing on the fact that 195/65/15 is better in snow and slush than 205/60/15. Waiting for you to come back to the original topic since you've thrown all this other misinformation and bad assumptions around.

Default You have not tried the difference, you're just pulling these ideas out of thin air.

I have tried each of the following width winter tires on my car:

195
205
215

Each step is very noticeable. But since you haven't tried or experienced it, you don't really know now, do you? You keep coming back to experience, but you really don't have any on this subject. The fact that you continue to argue it is highly amusing. Please continue :-)

I said "wet slush" not "slush".

Default Tell me, my drive's 1mi in 1ft of snow, 5mi on plowed & 100mi on dry hwy.Summer or winter tires?

Since obviously all-seasons are not cool enough for you, despite winter + summer = only 2 seasons out of 4. What should I run??? I'd be stuck in 1ft on your summer tires and limping in the slow lane on the highway as I incenerate your pettit-snow tires, just to turn around and do it again on the ride home.

Which of the two tires is better?...lol.

You should be out on the side of the road here flagging down cars to explain how stupid 99.5% of them are on all-season tires.

Oh, I don't own an A4, although I've had four and still work on about as many.

Narrower is better on anything with "slush" in the description, ok?

Default I'm fine if you choose to run all seasons. Honestly that doesn't bother me.

But somehow it bothers you that I choose to run separate summer and winter tires.

Also regarding your slow lane comment, that's complete bull, and you know it. Obviously in your situation you wouldn't choose something as ridiculous as a blizzak WS60. There's a very wide range of winter tires, from the super soft and scary on highway Q rated blizzaks with their tube multicell compound, to V rated tires which is probably higher than your all seasons.

I choose to run Hakka2s which are T rated. They provide excellent grip on snow and ice (2nd place in ice trials last winter), yet don't go to crap on dry pavement like the blizzaks on your wife's CRV. The T rated tires also last much longer, and have higher load indexes. I'm sure they ride over rail road tracks just as well as your all seasons (I LOL every time you post that).

So yes, if you chose to run winter tires, there's a few that would match your situation well.

It seems your happy with all seasons, so great, continue to use them. No issue here.

So why do you have an issue with people that have separate summer and winter tires?
