If it's the armrest's lid, then silicon will work. Dealer did that for us.

Default I used a few slivers of scotch tape in the latch groove (more)

If your noise is from the same source as mine was, this should help:

Press on the armrest lightly near the front, it creaks right?

Now, depress the release lever that opens the armrest lid. Then push at various places on the pad. No sound! The noise is from the plastic tongue rubbing against the groove, as the gap is too large.

I just cut a few small slivers of scotch tape, approximately 1/8 inch wide, and the length of the
groove. Use a wooden popsicle stick or coffee stir stick to push the tape slivers into the groove.

I used three or four small bits of tape, and haven't heard a peep from the armrest since.

Hope this works for you!

I just used some black electrical tape around the latch. The squeak is totally gone.

Default I found by accident one day when I tried to.... (more)

... stuff my wallet, cell phone, and sunglasses case in the armrest all at once. When I closed the lid, (it was difficult to close because I had overstuffed the compartment), the contents of the armrest were pushing up on the center of the lid and thus supporting it. The squeak was gone!

so the moral to the story is... get some adhesive backed rubber bumpers (available from any hardware store) and stick one on each side of the bottom surface near the center of the lid (close to the outside edge there's a clean flat surface to stick to). You'll need to get a bumper that is taller and trim it with an exacto knife to get just the right height so that it pushes up and supports the center of the lid when it is closed, yet it is not too difficult to close the lid. I haven't done it to mine yet, but I plan to do it this weekend.

Otherwise, my dealer in Westmont IL, (Laurel Audi) says that they had a memo on this problem and they have a fix for it that involves filing something down... I haven't taken it to them to fix, but if my bumper idea doesn't work, I probably will have them try it.

I also tried silicone lube which did absolutely nothing to help.

Default I sprayed WD-40 on a Q-Tip and lubed the inside of the "catch" mechanizm...

... where the armrest (read: lid) latches to the base. You have to get behind the little claw like thingy (technical terms) so use a good fluffy cotton swab.

The dealers application of silicon didn't do anything for me.
