Does anyone sell center rings for aftermarket shift knobs.

What happens if you turn the **** a little more?
The **** screws down and pushes against the plastic piece at the top of the shift boot. That plastic piece can be pushed down quite a bit. Sounds like you just need to rotate the **** a bit more, until the pattern is lined up. As you do, you'll get a little more resistance as that plastic bit is forced down the shaft of the shifter. That's fine.

You don't need to turn it all the way down...
Just far enough that it won't spin while you're shifting. Regardless, if you can lift the insert out and set it straight, do that.
