drive by wire?

is 2000 a4 drive by wire? If i disconnect the battery to replace the water pump am I gonna have to reprogram the throttle?

yeah, you'll want to do a TBA whenever you disconnect power.

and yes, 2000+ is DBW

Open hood, look for throttle cable.

If one can not be found, its DBW.

Yes, you will need to do a TBA. With or without a VAG-COM, it can be done.

yes it's DBW, but the throttle recalibration is very easy.

Just hook up the new battery, start the car, and don't touch the throttle at all for 60 seconds while the engine idles. That's straight out of the bently book.

Ok, so you actually idle the car during adaption on DBW?

that is different than the DBC cars. You NEVER start the car during an adaption on throttle cable. Good to note if that is the case. I have both DBW and a DBC. I thought adaption was the same on both. Just learned something new, thanks.
