Durability Question
I'm looking at a 99 A4 1.8T quattro at a dealership. The price is $8,900, fully loaded, but it has 90,000 miles on it. Its supposed to be in good shape and runs well. My question is, how are A4's for long term durability? I heard they hold up well, what is everyone's experience or opinion?? Thanks for the help.
Number one thing to worry about: timing belt and tensioner. Have the dealer do it before you buy the car.
2. all 4 wheel bearings
3. all 8 front control arms
4. front sway bar links
5. clutch...twice because the first replacement only lasted 30k miles
6. rear sway bar links
It's currently at 130k. within the next year it'll need:
timing belt (again)
power steering pump
shocks (my neusteins have about 85k on them and are starting to feel weak)
be prepared...lots of stuff goes after 80K
