Default Dyno'd my 2.8 with new Milltek exhaust - results inside

My pre-G2 install Dyno is done (done on a 4wd Mustang - I forget the model number, 7000 series or something like that). My car is stock other than a Milltek exhast. I'll post a scan of the plot a little later, but it looks extremely close to Amro's plot from back in February. My max power was 174.1 @ 5750rpm, and max torque was 190.9 @ 3250rpm (but very close to max at 2500rpm). The tech said a 15% drivetrain loss is what he estimates for our cars so that puts peak horsepower at 205 and torque at 225.

This is fairly close (maybe a touch high on each) to what I would expect if I am to believe Milltek's claims on their exhaust. I was guessing 200/220ish going into the test.

After I installed the Milltek, I immediately noticed improvements and am glad that these are now confirmed. The first thing I noticed upon the Milltek install was the elimination of that really annoying torque dip that happens on a stock 2.8 when the variable timing kicks in (4000-5000rpm). It is pretty much gone completely. Also the torque does not fall off nearly as fast as stock: mid to upper end torque is really improved. Low end torque (below 2500) seems to be slightly less, but hardly noticable (and might be I'm just talking myself into it). Looking at the Dyno results: it's too close to tell. The sound is very nice, low tone: very quiet. A little resonance droning at 2300-3000rpm when you're loading the engine (i.e. 50mph in 5th and floor it to pass - but who ever does this?). Other Milltek owners have said this will decrease as the exhaust breaks in.

The Audi tuning shop I am working on said the fit was pretty good, but the rear muffler needs to be taken off, hangers adjusted and put back on. I'll probably take it to a specialty exhaust shop to get it fine tuned. I lost a little ground clearance, but only 1/2 inch or so. The lowest point is below the center resonator, but w/ stock sport suspension it is still almost 5 inches.

Overall I am very happy with the exhaust (pretty stainless steel and nice 3 inch tips) and would recommend it to anyone.

Default Thanks for the report!

BTW- the VVT can kick in before 4000RPM. You can watch it in block 91 I believe. It is load and RPM based.

Milltek was $695 and Dyno was $150 ($100 for any more) - takes 75 minutes.
