ECU problem
I have a '98 A4 1.8T in which I installed a Wetterauer 200hp chip after about 15,000 mi. The car always appeared to have somewhat uneven power from day to day since new. The chip definitely increased the power and low end torque. At about 45,000 mi the power went away. Apparently, the turbo is no longer boosting as it should. I brought the car to the dealer (after switching the stock chip back) and they say the ECU is shot. They have ordered a replacement and will change it under warranty. My questions: Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone think the Wetterauer chip caused the ECU to go bad? And, should I have the Wett chip reinstalled when I get the new ECU?
