ECU Soft code - Emissions Type codes?
So,
I wrote down the softcode on my ecu not really knowing what all of the numbers mean.
"07251"
Does anyone know what the codes for digit #2 (Emmissions Type) are?
I fond the description below on anoter board, and it says "06xxx" is the designation for USA. Mine is "07"? Anyone know the difference? Anyone else have a 7?
I'm just curious more than anything.....

Here's what I found explaining the others.
1st digit is country code,
2nd digit is emissions type,
3rd is drivetrains option,
4th is transmission type,
5th is vehicle type.

I shot you an email with the coding graph from my service manual. No thanks is needed, just helping
out a fellow Audi driver. I like your Über name too, lol. My code for my '97 1.8T with Quattro (USA) is 06251 if that helps any.

i noticed the same difference...my bentley states 06 is correct.

I really don't know either. I really haven't worked with new(er) Audis...
so maybe its a new country code. At any rate, if the WSC (Work Shop Code) is 06335, that means it was programmed like that at the Audi assembly plant, and should probably be left alone. You might want to consider talking with an Audi dealer tech to find out if there is a good reason as to why its country code is 7 and not 6. If/when you do find out, shoot me an email or post it so I can take note as well.
