Default An end to the speculation about the 2001 A4 (for now)...

In case you didn't see the update from Jason in Geneva (on the homepage), Audi's official press release concerning the A4 has it basically unchanged. While they mention a couple "updates", the vehicle appears to be a carry over of the exsisting model.

So who'll be the first to start speculating on the 2002 A4 and what it will look like?

Default Is that an external antenna and amber directional I see? (more)

The picture in the A4 press release posted by Jason ("Audi A4 and A4 Avant") shows a small antenna at the left rear of the car. I'd heard that the antenna-in-windshield doesn't work that well (I don't own an A4 yet so I have no first hand experience), so this could be a real improvment.

It also appears that some kind of amber rear turn signals may be back, in the latest VW style (amber lens hiding under a red lens), but it's hard to be sure from the photo. I'm just looking at what appears to be some amber shading in the left rear lights.

I'm still trying to order a 2000; but I like these two changes (if I'm interpreting the photo correctly). Can't see waiting till early Fall just for these changes, though, but if I heard that they added memory to the power seats, THAT might swing the pendulum all the way...

I'm hungry for more details. Is complete information about the next model ever revealed while the old model is still in production? When were the 2000 options fully described? Anyone remember?

Default Actually, it only mentions the 6 speed transmission on TDI models...

which we don't see here. A lot of the options and standard features described
are Europe only. This is after all an Audi AG press relese, not AoA.

It implies that tiptronic won't be available on the 1.8T quattro (Europe only???)

Default I believe the external antenna is only for certain markets (not US)...

The A4 sedan has been equipped with that rear quarter panel mounted antenna since it's release in Europe in 1995, but only in specific markets (read: not in North America). I doubt we'll see it here on 2001s.

The Geneva news refers to the 1.8T as being 150hp, not 180. I thought it was 180hp in Germany?
