Engine clicking...?

I have a 1999 1.8T w/ APR Stage I with about 85k on it. Twice in the last two weeks, I have noticed a regular and loud clicking sound coming somewhere in or near the engine block. At idle, the click occurs about 6 times per second, but speeds up as RPMs increase. It hasn't happened enough to pinpoint whether some sort of environmental or driving style factor influences the problem, but I figured I'd ask and see if this rings a bell with anyone. I'm about 90% sure, though, that it doesn't happen all of the time.

probably cam chain tensioner...

that happens frequently to people. Some find if they use a thicker oil the noise goes away or becomes more faint. What oil do you use? What is the weight?

Actually, I'm not sure what oil is currently in it... the car was at the dealership and I had them change the oil for me. Though that was just before the winter (Atlanta), so perhaps it's not viscous enough for the summer heat. It's about time for a change, so I'll go put something new in and see if that solves the problem.
