Default engine light on

My engine light came on when my car was at idle then the car started spattering i check it using the vag tool and these are the codes that got
i think my car is in limp mode
16684 - Misfire detected
16686- misfire detected on cyl 2

from what i read do i need a ignition coilpack or do i need to replace my spark plugs or do i have a more serious problem.

Default ok take engine cover off... closest to you if you're at the front of the car is cyl 1, so second one

is cyl 2... swap that coil pack with one from cyl 1 or whatever cyl. Clear the codes with vag-com drive... see if CEL comes on... it should... revag. if cyl 1 then it's coilpack, if cyl 2 could be wire/plug.

Default possibly, broken ignition coil on cylinder #2

they can snap right in half!! it happened to me this summer. i drove over a nasty deep pothole on the highway, and minutes later the engine light came on. in my case it was cylinder #3. the audi technician said this problem happens a lot and for some reason usually on cylinder #3.
