Does this engine (2.7T) just misfire a lot?
Yesterday, after a spirited drive, I shut off the car and then went an had dinner. Three hours later, I went back out a started the car and had a CE light. Hooked up the VAG and had 4 DTC's,
1) Random Misfire
2) Misfire Cylinder 2
3) Misfire Cylinder 3
4) Misfire Cylinder 5
I checked blocks 015, 016 and 014 and they showed my car to be misfiring quite a bit. The misfire counters would get up to about 7 or 8 and then reset. Now, because of my AudiWorld induced paranoia, I've checked these blocks a few more times. I thought it might be bad gas so I filled up with Chevron 93 from a familar station and still was logging misfires. No DTC's or CE light, just a bunch of misfires. At one point, the total misfire count on block 014 totaled 27 and then reset itself. Should I be concerned?
I'm not really sure what counts as a misfire to the ECU, but it seems like it would be bad to me. I asked an Audi Tech when it first happened and he told me not to worry about it, but I haven't spoken to him regarding the contiuned misfires. I never checked these blocks before the CE light, so I don't know if this is normal. What's the general opinion?
Thanks guys.

My 2002 recorded misfires in the same cylinders. SkydiveS4 cleared the codes for me
so I have no idea what the count is in total. Hasn't happened in a few weeks though. Oh and I have about 7700 miles on the car now.

The CE light, should not of cleared them unless chipped. Would of brought into dealer.
But the cars are known for misfires @ idle. The shop foreman @ my dealership said the S4's run hella lean @ idle and your getting Lean misfires. Who knows if true or not...
If my car ever thru a CE for misfire, I would jump up and down and bring it to dealer for them to do something. As it is now, car misfires away, no CE = Nothing looked at.

Mine had noticible mis-fires at moderate acceleration once...
...and the cel came on. I took it in and they said Intermittent Misfire, cleared the codes and told me to come back if it did it again. Well, it did, so I took it back and they're ordering a "Engine Temperature Sensor"??? I'll ask them more when I got in to have it installed this week.
