engine problems...
The point is, I expected that this car can go 150k+ miles without major problems and this is a big setback for that plan. I simply expect more reliability from an Audi. A 4-year old car with that many miles (mostly highway by the way) should not be having these problems. The engine is not modded in any way and the car hasn't been raced. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the previous owner drag raced on a daily basis. I'm not sure what my options are, but Audi of America will be getting a letter from me. Then again, maybe there is reason why Hyundai has a better warranty than Audi.
Condition
Lack of scheduled maintenance and/or high temperatures may cause oil in the oil supply line to coke which can restrict or stop oil flow to the turbocharger. Lack of oil flow may damage the turbocharger.
Service:
Replace turbo, Oil Supply line 058145778, and Heat shield 058129585B.
However, I would agree that 71,000 seems a bit premature. A turbo should last longer than a timing belt. I would expect an average life of 100,000 miles, based on my experience with turbo diesels.
Additionally, beware of "stealerships"; have an honest, experienced independent mechanic confirm the diagnosis. I have seen a lot of dealerships hit with fines for recommending unnecessary repairs.
Good luck with it!
