Default Engine snub mount question...

On a scale from 1 to 10, what technical skill level is required to install a snub mount (APR) on a 2001 1.8T? I'm pretty comfortable doing basic maintenance but could never earn a living as a mechanic.

Default it takes some time to do..

best time to do it is when you are doing a t-belt change.. because eveything is off anyway, then

Default I'd give it a higher number. Heck, the air filter alone is a 2

I just did mine myself last weekend. It is pretty involved because you have to pull the bumper and pull the radiator carrier forward.

Following the APR instructions makes it easier.

One additional hint I'd add is that once you get the carrier pulled forward, support it from the bottom using a jackstand or something. Then completely remove the "female" bracket mounted to the engine that the snub fits in. Three bolts total. This will make pulling the old snub off and putting the new one on much easier.

Heat the new snub in the microwave for 30 seconds and grease liberally before trying to push it onto the spindle.

Default I agree it is involved but I don't think it is very 'technically challenging'. If a snub is a 3 or 4

on a scale of 10 a head gasket would be a 9 and major engine work would be a 14
