Erratic clutch behavior, any ideas?(more)
Well, I got the superblue out of my system about a week ago, and the clutch still squeaks sometimes. Today afterwork when I started the car and released the clutch for the first time, there was a clearly audible squeak and the pedal felt sticky on the last inch before full release.
The squeak is most noticeable in 1st and 2nd, sometimes in third, and now it seems to come and go as I am driving the car(2001 A4 1.8tqms, about 9500 on the clock). The clutch does not squeak when the engine is not running except for when I let the clutch out right after I have turned the engine off.
It seems to come and go... Yesterday I thought it was completely gone. After I initailly bled the clutch and brakes(put the ford fluid in, am I crazy?), the clutch felt very smooth at the top and I could get good starts. But even when the noise isn't there it still seems to drag a little. Do I need to blled again? I used a vacuum bleeder last time, any other ideas?
BTW, does anyone know how to remove the screen under the fluid cap or what is the purpose of the small yellow cap that can only be opened with a flathead screwdriver?
