Estimate of cost for a sun roof fix?
All has been going well on the audi for quite some time now so I figured it was about time for something else to break. The piece on the sunroof that pops up and down as the sunroof opens and closes has come unclipped and is preventing the sunroof from closing fully. It is a black plastice piece that is clearly visable when the sunroof is open and looks kind of like a small spoiler on the front of the open sunroof. That piece wraps around on either side of the sunrof about six inches and at the end of that is where the piece is not sitting down properly and will not let the sunroof close.
I tried popping it back down but it is pretty evident that the piece is broken and will need to be replaced. Does anyone have any idea on the cost or what is involved so I know before I head into the dealership.
TIA
Brian

I would expect about 5 hours of labor.
Basically, everything inside the roof of your car needs to be removed, and the headliner dropped. Here's the thing...there are other plastic bits I can't identify which are susceptible to failure as the car ages. The piece you describe doesn't usually, fail, but if you're paying someone to go through the trouble to replace 1 plastic bit, you may as well give them a list of plastic bits to replace. Try searching on the A4 forum or check the tech section. One of the A4 guys ripped into his sunroof to fix it, and wrote up some of the details around the repair. I think his screen name was Odelay. Only thing is...his car was a 96 I believe. The sunroof in his car may be different from yours, so the same part numbers might not do you any good. But his write up might get you up to speed at the very least.
