Exhaust advice needed please! (more inside...)
Hi,
I'm planning on getting an exhaust upgrade. My question concerns the stock OEM exhaust. I will be removing the stock exhaust either from the downpipe OR cat back depending on what aftermarket exhaust I go with. In either case, I am stuck with a long stock exhaust.
My question is this: Can i cut the stock exhaust at a point, say, between the muffler and resonator to make two pieces? If I were to remount the OEM exhaust when/if selling the car, can the installers just weld the two pieces back together, with little or no consequence? I need to do this because of a lack of storage space (don't ask...but I need to keep this thing under my bed.)
I know its a strange question, but thanks for informative responses! =)

Yes, the stock exhaust could be cut into two pieces...probably a cut-off wheel would be the quickest way to cut through it (my guess).
I would think that the two pieces could be joined back together again later with a bit of welding and perhaps the use of an additional section of pipe fitted over the original two pieces to help join them together.
The stock exhaust is really long un-cut....I opted to leave mine at the installer when I had my APR/Borla exhaust installed. I didn't feel like storing it plus I doubted I'd ever go back to stock.
