Default Firefox Search Plugin Mods

I searched and didn't find any posts dealing with this topic, so I figured I would go ahead and share

Most of the time when I search, I select only the "A4(B5 Platform) Discussion" forum and I usually constrain the date to the past two or three years at most. The current Firefox plugin searches the term(s) you type in with no additional criteria. I think there was a B5 specific plugin posted, but I figured I would just let everyone know how to define your own criteria so you can modify at will.

1) Go to the directory where Firefox is installed (usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox)
2) Go into the "searchplugins" directory and open the audiworld.src file with your text editor of choice (Notepad, Wordpad, etc...)
3) You will find two lines about half way down which look like this:

<INPUT NAME="q" user>
<INPUT NAME="sourceid" VALUE="Mozilla-search">

4) To limit your search to the B5 forum add this line below the two lines mentioned above.

<INPUT NAME="cat" VALUE="010001">

5) To search multiple forums, just copy the line from step 4, paste it on the next line, and change the 010001 to one of the following numbers.

Example to add 1.8T forum to your search:
<INPUT NAME="cat" VALUE="010062">

010063 - 2.0T
010022 - B6 Chassis
010075 - Audi News Forum
01001f - Auto Detailing Discussion
010033 - VAG-COM

Those are obviously just a few forums, but I got tired of typing them, so if you want to know how to get the rest, just ask.

6) To specify the "Search Type", add one of these lines.

Subject/Title
<INPUT NAME="s" VALUE="title">

Body
<INPUT NAME="s" VALUE="body">

Only hits with images
<INPUT NAME="fi" VALUE="on">

Only hits with links
<INPUT NAME="fl" VALUE="on">

7) To specify dates, add both of the following lines with the actual VALUE being the dates you would like to use

Start Date
<INPUT NAME="db" VALUE="2002-01-01">

End Date
<INPUT NAME="de" VALUE="2007-02-13">

8) Finally, if you want to specify a certain user account, add the following line

<INPUT NAME="u" VALUE="accountName">

9) Save the file, restart Firefox, and search away.

Let me know if you have problems
