Front break upgrade TT or....
What are your opinions on the following COST CONCIOUS upgrades
TT upgrade 312mm drilled stock calipers, $495
I think RPI 280 mm (11 in) with wildwood (sp?) 4 piston calipers.
For my purposes I can't justify spendin $1300-1700 on breaks. Anyone know anthing about these two systems. or any other ideas on cost concious upgrades.
Does anyone know where you can get just the TT carriers and then buy replacement TT brembo rotors??

I agree with Rob... avoid the Willwoods unless you want to rebuild them yearly.
Unless you plan to do track events, there's really no reason to spend a lot of money on the brakes.
My favorite upgrade on the brakes was to use EBC Turbogroove rotors with Mintex Red Box pads. Very good on the street, low dust, and cool looking rotors. These even work well for limited track use, but with better track pads. Probably cost less than $400 to do the fronts.
The A8 rotors look cool also, filling in the gaps if you have 17" or 18" wheels. As you note in your post, this is about a $500 upgrade... but the look is good and you may see improved cooling if you take the car to the track.
The biggest improvement to any brakes will be the pads. You can make stock brakes grip like mad with a really aggressive pad.
OK... I'm off my soapbox!!!
Hope that helps.

Re: I agree with Rob... avoid the Willwoods unless you want to rebuild them yearly.
Pete, thanks for the advice.
I am currently looking to upgrade step by step and see that you have about everything that I want, or have looked into. What would your next upgrade be considering I have GIAC, BPV, and Borla. I want to catch up a little bit with my father autocorssing his '98 M3. He ran like a 1:41 and I ran a high 1:43 this weekend. There would be nothing like the "wagon" upstaging him.
Also, considering you have a 2001. Have you had any problems with burning out ignition coils. I have lost 3 in the last 10K, and am seeking out AUDI to rectify the problem.
Thanks.

no problems with coil packs, and I have 52k miles on this thing
I have had a few minor things fixed, but the coil packs are going strong. I do have the plastic cover removed from the top of the engine.... all that does is hold in heat! Maybe that's a reason???
You have all the good go-fast upgrades... so brakes are the next thing to focus on. Start cheap with new slotted rotors and some really good pads.
For auto-x, the EBC Turbogroove is a solid performer. Match that with Mintex C-Tech or Porterfield R4 pads and you have a winning combination.
The other thing you might consider is a 19mm rear swaybar. This will help you pivot the car around the tight turns at the auto-x. You can set it to the firm setting for the event and soft setting for the street. This will help you beat the M3 at the auto-x... since power is not usually king, but handling and braking are at the auto-x.
Hope that helps.
