front, passenger side, suspension squeek...strut??
hey guys, my co-worker has a B5 coming up on 100k miles. The car is making a loud squeek when turning or going over bumps. With the car turned off and parked, pushing down on the right front fender/hood (so as to compress the suspension) will create the creaking/squeeking sound which is quite loud.
Is this likely the strut that needs replacing??
Thanks, in advance.

Take a look at the shock...
Where the piston meets the housing. See if you notice hyd. fluid leaking. There are four ball joints on that corner that can be dry. If you can narrow it down to a squeaky ball joint. Get a grease needle and inject the boot with good high temp grease. Most likely a ball joint.

I had something similar...
But by no means am I an expert and don't even work on my own car (see my post directly below). But...I was getting something similar, clunking sound when turning. Turned out it was the upper control arms on the right front side, both of them needed replacing. Put the car up on a jack, grab a hold of the tire and see if you can shake it back and forth. If you can, might be the upper control arms.
But again, I don't know anything at all so take this with a grain of salt. Just thought I'd comment since I happen to be on the forum at this time, and had something similar happen not too long ago. Cost for mechanic to replace was about $350.
