Gas tank question (Help needed)
Hello,
I've been experiencing a problem with the gas tank for the last few weeks. When I fill up, it allows maximum 45 litres (tank is 60 litres) of gas and after that it starts to overflow. I know that the tank is empty because of the "light" that comes up and also the needle drops to "Empty". After I fill up the gas tank, the needle doesn't go all the way up to "Full". Anyone knows what the problem is?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Dima.

you're experiencing excess pressure creating gasoline bubbles/foam (more)
remove the gas nozzle completely from the car (listen for the pressure release "sigh") reinsert the gas nozzle and continue filling.
I have had to do this on a couple of cars, but this one (99.5 A4 QSTip) is the most sensitive to the build-up of pressure in the gas tank. Allow the pressure to subside, and you can fill the car up more. I usually get another 1.5 to 2 gallons (5.67 to 7.56 litres) in the tank before it is REALLY full.
