Default Good mechanic in San Francisco, CA

Hey, all.

My warranty recently expired and I am looking for a referral for a GOOD and *HONEST* mechanic in the SF Bay area who specializes in Audi. Does anyone have a good referral? The dealership wants outrageous amounts of money <sigh>.

Default Good luck

The topic came up just yesterday, and someone mentioned "Burlingame Independent" in Burlingame, a place I've never been to, but which comes recommended. Maybe that's too far for you, but I really don't know any good/reasonable mechanic in SF.

Maybe ask again on the Nor Cal forum.

Default "Burlingame Independent"

I wasn't on yesterday, but yeah, that's the place I go to. I trust them and they do good work. However, they will quote high at times - in fact, every time I ask fellow AW's if the quoted price is fair or not, most seem to bawk at the outrageous prices. But it's definately much cheaper than the SF one (the name escapes me at the moment).

Default That's about what I heard...

The Bay Area is a nightmare if you're trying to find an affordable shop. And the expensive ones don't necessarily do good work.

I stopped going to dealers and independent places altogether last year. I've spent so much time and money on shoddy work, I just couldn't stand it anymore, and I started doing what I can do myself. Now my car is running better than in years!
