Got into a Hit & Run today...

with a ~1998 Mercedes S500. I was going through a light making a left when this S500 blows his red light and clips me on the bumper.
Point of contact for his car was left rear quater panel. From the amount of debris on the road, seemed like his car got the worse of it.
I pulled over but he kept going and got right onto the highway and jetted. Unfortunately, the impact didn't stop his car. I didn't get the plate. Tried to chase him but he was gone. State Police was no help either.
Ironically enough, EVERYTHING still works. Looks like I need a bumper, headlight (scratched up) and quater panel.
Anyone know how insurance handles hit & runs? Am I basically up a creek without a padel?

it comes against your uninsured motorist policy
Since a hit n run is technically ruled uninsured (at least here).
if you don't have uninsured policy, it will count as YOUR FAULT against your collision, just as if you hit an inanimate object..

Go file a report with the police ASAP.
File the report, where you'll describe the two-car incident, get a case number. Give this case number to your insurance company, being sure to tell them it was a hit-and-run incident and the police are investigating it.
Bad news is you're most likely SOL, as the police won't investigate too heavily, you left the scene of the accident preventing them from investigating it, no witnesses were present, if they figure out who the vehicle belongs too it wasn't neccesarily that guy, could've been someone else driving the car, and it becomes your word against their word. Sucks overall, I've BTDT, but it's kind of how it works. Next time, stay at the scene, call the police. BTW - you'll have to pay the deductable unless the other guy is found and admits to it.
