Need an opinion, just recently whenever I put my B5 2001 quattro manual in reverse or in drive my right rear wheel makes a grinding sound/noise any suggestions what might be the problem ?

Screw the video. We need more data.

1. So what if you are on a hill and start moving with it not in gear?
2. On the same hill, is it different if it's in neutral and the clutch is engaged versus the clutch is pushed in?
3. If you jack up that corner and turn the wheel :is it free or are the brakes dragging and making the noise?
4. Is the noise positional on that wheel or just a steady grinding?
5. Does the noise change under braking? Acceleration? Turning the wheel from side to side?
6. Do you hear it when you're driving or just in those low gears?

My gut reaction after reading your post is wheel bearing, but really, there isn't enough information in your post to determine that.
As others have suggested, may be a number of things to include frozen brake caliper, or even worn pads for that matter.
Does this noise get louder as you drive? Turn? etc. We need more information. And you need to do a closer inspection and report back.

you really need to provide more details. you didn't mentioned nothing about the speed it does it at, changes on turns, etc...

it's probably a wheel bearing. there's a ton of info out there on this

The noise occurs when I put the car in gear and start driving forward or reversing or going around a corner anything under 50 it sounds horrible. When I'm driving at 80 or 100 the noise demished. When approaching a red light or stop sign I do not have to step on the brakes the car slows down on it own.

That sounds way worse than a wheel bearing. Idk. I'd stop by a transmission place

Michael,

Jack up that corner of the car...with the tranny in neutral can you turn that wheel? From your description it sound like you've got a frozen caliper. And if so, you really need to get this fixed..........like in the next 2 miles. If you don't think you can diagnose it, you need to get it someone (close by) who can.
