Default Grrrrrr

While lubing my shifter ball I dropped a bracket below the shifter housing. I can see that little bastard down there.

Do I need to remove the e-brake assembly and console to get there? Any directions on how to do this would be appreciated. I see there are 2 hidden screws on the console but it's raining... so I'm going to tackle it in the morning.

Thanks in advance.

You can't grab it with a long magnet or another retrieval device?

Default Go for a long magnetic picker-upper thingamabob. They sell them at Autozone and Sears.

Removing the console would get you nowhere. It's two pieces, and the rear piece ends just before the slight rise where the shifter is. Those two screws simply hold the rear console in line with the back console. I wouldn't trust those screws to hold in a sunvisor much less a console with an armrest. Taking the front console out is a huge PITA. and it still has no benefit. If you still don't believe me, email me tomorrow and I'll tell you how to remove them.

Default Thanks both of you. I rigged my own magnet wand and got it out of there.

For future searches: it's a BIG help to manually pull the transmission linkage towards you (into first or third gear)
