you ever drag race one or see one run, or ae you 'magazine' racing??
I have seen with my own two eyes, a 2.8 quattro manual run a 16.0, 16.1 1/4 mile. NE event this year, a very nice guy with a 30v 2.8qm named Mike.
Find me a stock 2.8, hell even a modded 2.8, that runs 14.6 and then will believe you. I run mid 14's with just a chip and exhaust, take away the exhaust and it will be a high 14. Find me a 2.8 that does that (yet to see supercharged 2.8's do that)
