Default H&R race springs?

I've heard a lot of people say not to get just springs, but to also get at least matching shocks, if not coilovers. What would happen exactly if I just went with H&R race springs with stock 01 Quattro Sport Suspension? I'm planning on getting 18" Abt wheels with H&R race springs... will my car bottom-out really bad, or do you guys think it would be OK?

Default bottom out at every speed bump..

the car also bounce without control when cornering.

you might have problem / trouble with alignment because it really is too low for the car, visible negative camber in front wheels.

there's exactly no finger gap with 18's but if given a choice, i'll stick with Sport instead of Race.

also, stock seats + race is very bouncy and it will contribute to body flex and misterious rattling noise in the future

Default You'll probably blow out a shock.

It really depends on the type of driving you do, and the terrain on which you drive. The race springs sit pretty low, and have a higher spring rate than the factory shock can handle. In a short period of time, you'll notice that the factory shocks will begin to lose their effectiveness, and the car will become bouncy. There is a slight chance that you might be okay for 6 months to a year at the mos. At any point in time, if you hit one good bump or pothole, you'll blow out the shock, and then you'll be back in there replacing the bad components.

Replacing your shocks now will give you a better ride, and remove some of the unexpected "repairs" that will arise from poor road conditions.

Default Um I had H&R race springs for 3 years on stock sport shocks.

It gets a bit bouncy. But didnt blow a shock yet.
No bottoming out.
I am not too happy with these springs though.. They sit WAY too high!
There is like a 2 inch fender gap in the front!

Default A 2 inch fender gap with H&R Race springs?

I'm almost inclined to say that's not possible, but I don't have them.

As far as blowing the shocks...as I said, that is entirely dependent on road conditions. If the shaft of the shock has to travel outside it's intended range (which becomes a possibility with race springs), you'll have a shock no more!

Why would anyone run HR Race springs with OEM shocks?
