has anyone ever replaced their factory alarm "siren" with an aftermarket siren?

i would like something a little more audible than the factory siren i guess, but dont want to install a full aftermarket alarm.

isnt the alarm just use the regular horn ? not a special siren?

Dunno about the older ones, but mine uses a rinky dink one in the (edit) left rear of the car.

mine is a 99 and thats what it uses...its hard to tell if ive armed it sometimes since its so quiet.

so is it possible to do this?

when i had my 4runner i had a siren with...

all my emergency lights (i'm a volunteer firefighter) the reglar horn was disconnected and used the siren speaker, so when i honked the horn it made the chirp (eletronic airhorn) that cops make, so when my alarm went off instead of having the annoying factorey horn go off it was this unblieveablly loud chirrping, that literaly made you cringe....
