Has anyone installed the Xenon straight replacement for Halogen bulb?
I saw these at a speed shop on the weekend. Didn't catch the mnaufacturer but it basically looks like your std Halogen bulb and connector but its a Xenon bulb. Salesman says it make quite a difference. Anyone got some real world experience? They were about $50 USD a piece and just plug into your existing socket.

This sounds crazy. Xenon lamp sets for the Audi go for $1200-1500, including the bits and pieces necessary. Anything for $50 would have to be looked at as a scam. Be careful. See if there's a filament observable. Xenon lamps have no filaments. It's a gas discharge lamp with two high voltage electrodes. You should see them if you look carefully, I think.

Re: Thanks... I'll check them out tomorrow...
Darren:
It seems to me that Halogen is Halogen (Chlorine, Fluorine, Bromine, Iodine, Astatine) and Xenon is Xenon (a rare gas, unreactive, like Argon, Neon, etc). If it's BETTER than a Halogen, what could it be? Curious, no?
And isn't there a reflector set (~$350) for the A4 that can give the regular lights some aggressive characteristics and better lighting?

I have, and they definetly weren't 50 bucks...
I have a straight setup for much less than the 1600 or watever price they are ripping you off at LLTEK...I can get these for anyone who is interested. It comes with ballaster and ingitor in one casing. All you need to do is get some 14 gauge threaded wire and some male connector ends and you can do this at home in an hour...all you have to do is find a place to mount the ballister. I have a PES 2.8, so I had little room to work with. And i can also get the whole set, ballister, with replacement housings for a bit more...let me know who is interested.
