i recently cleaned out my heater core bc my heater was not working very much it was only blowing very little warm air almost none. so i cleaned it and a lot of gunk came out... but when i turned on the heater it blew more warm air but still not enough not make a big difference. So i decided to do the procedure of cleaning the heater core again.. and more gunk came out a lot more gunk. So i tried the heater again and its working better but still not great. It seems that the heater works great when you rev the engine but when its on idle it doesn't work very well. I was wondering what could be the problem, b/c i cleaned it twice and a very large amount of gunk came out both times. Also does it matter what type of antifreeze i use?
ok how do i do that i'm pretty new at this so i'm not really sure what you mean?
thanks
One of the hoses to the heater core should have a circle on it and a hole in it. you loosen the hose and pull back until coolant comes out of the hole. Elevate the coolant reservoir and top it up until there are no bubbles coming out of the hole.
Use either G12 Audi/ VW coolant and don't mix with anything else as it turns to "tomato soup."
You can use one of the universals llke Peak Global or even Prestone Orange if you thoroughly remove the old coolant and flush first.
