Helmet with or without sunroof? Help tall folks!
When I get my 1.8T I'm pretty sure I'll go to a couple track days. I figure I'll just use my motorcycle helmet ... will I fit? Does the sunroof make a difference? Can you drive the track with the sunroof open for clearance? I'm 6'3" and will probably barely fit. Thanks!!

I am 6'3" and autocross with a helmet...
In the autocross seating position where the seat is very upright, the top of the helmet does touch the top of the roof. I don't think opening the sunroof is going to help much, since you will be further to the left. It doesn't touch enough to make it a problem, and if you sit in a certain way, it doesn't touch at all. Therefore, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Mike

It's kind of a problem for me, and I'm only 6'0"....
I have to hold my head at a slight angle, so that the helmet goes in the sunroof area. At the events I've been to, you can't have the sunroof open.
You can try reclining the seatback farther than you normally would and sliding the seat forward a little; you'll just have to play around with the adjustments until you find the best position.
Rich D.

You guys gotta remember, it's not just height...
...it's also inseam. If you're 6'4" but have a 42 inch inseam, headroom will not be an issue.
Personally, I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam, a 1.8t with sport seats and a sunroof, and I don't fit well in the car with a helmet on. It's certainly doable, but I have to tilt my head 10 degrees -- kind of a PITA. The car is so great in so many other ways, though, that I don't mind.

-vik
99.5 1.8tqms
