My friend with a B5 just had his power locks fail. The central locking system doesn't work at all. Is there any way to release the fuel filler door without the power of the locking system?? Is there a pull pin or something to get the door open?? TIA

All you have to do is take the clamps off the battery and lock them to remove all power, then put them back on, and it should open, that is what happened to me, all you have to do that, and it resets it back to normal.

Yeah, there is a way...
Pull away the right-hand side trim in the trunk. There's a locking gizmo visible. Push the button on it and release the gizmo, then pull it towards the back of the car. Then open the fuel door.
