Default HELP! Tire pressure...

I have the factory 15" wheels and the tires look flat. The Goodyear tires says that it has a maximum pressure of 51 lbs; however, the worker at the gas station said only to pump it to 32 lbs. I don't know, but the tires seem flat to me... how much pressure is right? I have a feeling that guy had no clue... and I know this is the place to get expert opinions. Thanks.

Did you check the inside panel of the Gasoline Filler door?

Default Tire pressures

The factory recomended tire pressure should be on the inside of the door covering the gas cap. For my car (1.8t w/ 16" tires) it reccomends 32 lbs all around. Not sure about yours, but you definitely don't want to be running 51 lbs, that's the absolute maximum that particular tire is capable of handling. Check your tire pressures cold (car sitting for at least an hour (2 or 3 would be better). For tire pressures, go with what works for you. More tire pressure will make the ride stiffer and decrease grip. I run 32 front 34 rear, it's comfortable, and pretty neutral, but I can get some oversteer when I want it. I would reccomend you keep the pressure between 30 and 40 psi. Start at whatever your reccomended factory setting is and adjust a little bit from there. Also, get in the habbit of checking your tire pressures regularly, at least once a month (I check mine every week).<p>Regards,<br>Rodney<p>'99 A4 1.8tqms

3000 lbs / 4 tires = 750 lbs. you need at least 700 more lbs in each tire..... nt.

Default You can not tell anything about a tire by the way it looks. That's why you must use an accurate tire guage and make cold pressure what it's supposed to be. nt.

Divide that by the area of contact by each tire, then you get tire pressure in the neighborhood of 30 - 32 psi.
