Default Hey Raj, i went to European Motorwerks today....

Well i was impressed by the black ferrari sitting right infront of the store. anyway, the service guy was very helpful, he popped in the cd and showed me wut they were goin to replace. Getting to the price, he wanted $814 for everything. Thats more than what Classic audi wanted to charge me. I asked about bringin my own parts and then he was like ok, and he said $414. then i gave him my poor college student situation, so he was like $360. i guess its a reasonable price. and they just did an A4 recently. but i went to the shell station next to my apt and they said that they'll do the labor for $230, it sounds pretty temping. but i dont know what to do. i told motorwerks about shell wanting only $230 and he was like u'll never know if they actually do it, etc, etc. what do you think or any1 else? If shell f***s up and kills my engine, wont they fix it anyway?
thanx

Default What are you having done? I can't remember.

Honestly, I would bring it to EM, but WTF!!?!?! $814, down to $360?!? Is there something you left out here? did they offer to NOT do some (possibly) unnecessary work...use non-OEM parts? What am I missing?

Sorry, without a complete picture, I'm at a loss here.

Whatever you do, don't go to the shell station, unless you have a referral or you're just having an oil change done (for $814, I assume you're having a little more done).

That's not too shabby ($500 total).

Default Ok Raj, where is this EM?

I've got 12K miles to go before 60k so I gotta start saving for the TB work. :-)

Default It's in Edison, on Route 1 North, just past the Mazda/Honda dealer (Raritan River bridge).

One of those little side streets just past the Honda dealer has a little mechanic right on the corner of rt 1 and the side street. He'll probably have a fenced in yard with a lot of old MB's and BMW's. Last time I was there they had an old Mini Cooper lying around.

And put some miles on your car already!! I got mine on 4/1/00, and I'm up to 45K on the clock. We're going to have to start dragging you to some of the Audi events (Boston, VA, Allentown PA!). :-)

Default Hot Diggity! That place is close by! You helped again Raj!

I was just about to ask about a recommended independent mechanic. :-)

Trust me miles will be piling up soon. Once I get my mods done I'll be driving a heck of a lot more. :-)

And yes, I'm going to try to make more of these events!
