Default HFC questions...

1st of all thanks for all the advice regarding the cracking of my CAT pipe yesterday. I took my car to a local specialist and they will have to take the CAT out to weld back together. They mentioned that the weld should not be regarded as a permanent solution and I tend to agree as I'm already paying labour money so do it right 1st time!.

They wanted $570us incl.tx (153 labour incl) to fit a magnaflow HFC. after STFA, I concluded the following:-

Labree - $260us (tantrumworks)
Miltek - $790us (audivwtuner) "too expensive"
magnaflow - $260us (autopartswarehouse)

I do not want LOUD, and I may plan to put a MILTEK cat-back exhaust on later, so can anyone give me some insight into (1st) how loud are various HFC's with the standard exhaust) (2nd) SFTA showed that the Labree HFC with Miltek cat back is quieter than the Borla cat-back and OEM cat!

apart from this can anyone offer other places/prices and models for the HFC? and can anyone offer with personal experiences with various setups???

thanks all for your help I just want to get my car back on the road asap but do it right!

Default I have Milltek/Labree, It's not too loud.

When I gave my mother a ride in my car she didn't make any comments.

The Labree is just a Mangaflow HFC btw, but made to fit our 1.8T properly.

Cell Counts (the lower the less restriction):
stock - 600
labree - 400
milltek - 200 (may cause a CEL)
rennKat - 100 (may cause a CEL)

Default Odd that a S3 owner would recommend a RT...

considering so many have had problems with them.

Default with respect to cracking, not throwing a CEL

The two S3 owners I know IRL have had them split over time.

I asked WJM about it recently, and he said it was not an isolated issue.
