HomeLink Installed. Thank you everyone who helped with advice...
As I posted yesterday, I received the HomeLink Transmitter from Clair Parts. Main differences between the old (pre-99.5 visor) and new include sliding cover and no built in lights on the new.
Removing the old visor revealed two sets of wires with a single plug. The new visor had two plugs (one black and one tan).
This install is very simple, but not quite plug and play. First the large black plug on the old visor is a different shape and will not plug into the new one. I cut the end of the plug (it is molded and cannot be removed) from the old visor, stripped the wires and attached it to the new visor. There was no sign of electricity on the new visor (LED didn't light up).
I then repeated the operation with the tan plug (cut and stripped the wire and attached the old plug to it). I then plugged it in. It worked. Make sure the brown wire on the visor is not attached to the brown wire on the black plug. It will not work (fortunately I had tried the reverse first). It then soldered the wires and wrapped them with electrical tape. In the garage I plugged the visor into the car's plug (to make it as plug and play as possible). I then reattached the visor and programmed the HomeLink as instructed on the HomeLink site (see link below).
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I am very excited to have this convenience feature attached to my car.
