Default Houston, we have an engine problem..... Please help!!!!

Noticed something new today. Previously I had a ticking sound coming from my engine compartment area when I first started accelerating and had it checked out. The dealer told me it was my tensioner?? They said it wasn't to bad and not to worry about it until it got louder or worse (not a confidence boosting answer) but I said hmmm ok.. Now the ticking sound is gone, or at least not as noticable but now I am getting a knocking sound from the rear of the engine, and a constant ticking from the front of the engine... Good Lord, is it the end of my engine, or is it something less?? Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing tapping and ticking simultaniously?? damn you Audi, damn you straight to hell.. Love hate relationships.... you gotta love em'!!!

Default I wouldn't take a chance on driving it if it were me. and find another dealer

cause whoever told you the tensioner is making some noise but not to worry about it is looking to make big bucks on an engine rebuild, IMO

Default hmm, same thing happened to me in one of my old cars......

ended up blowing a rod and the undercarriage caught on fire. it's actually a hilarious story, but if that noise is getting worse, get that thing to a mechanic or your dealer.

Thanks, I had great experiences with a mechanic that has since left, and now I'm stuck with who's ever next in line.

At this point a finre would be my best bet. I've taken the car in for numerous issues over the past year and it seems the problems never dissappear for more that a month, then another pops up!!
