How come my LLTek intake for my 2001 1.8t is plastic and not metal?
Everyone seems to have metal LLTek intakes but mine is plastic. I called them and they said they are supposed to be plastic. The reason I went with LLTek instead of Evo was because I thought it was metal.

Then you dont know anything about the plastic they use for that intake.
It is a molded plastic tube that allows less heat to soak into it from the outside. The metal tube had to be coated to do this but still allowed more heat thru it. This means if the temps outside of the tubes are equal the plastic one will have a lower temp on the inside, which allows for a lower pre-turbo air temp.
